History of the TT department

When I joined this club with the big reputation in 1985, Alemannia Aachen was playing soccer in the 2nd Bundesliga, the Tivoli was a feared witches' cauldron at that time and even Bayern Munich later got a thrashing here twice (in the golden hours of the 2006/07 season in the DFB Cup and in the Bundesliga).

At that time, there were 7 men's teams in our department and we played in almost all divisions from the top league down. On the home match days of the first team on Sunday, the hall in the KKG was often packed with spectators and the atmosphere was great. The ladies played in two teams, the first in the Verbandsliga and we ("aspiring" students) had to work hard against these technically excellent women to bring the (training) game home.

However, the most successful lady of our club is and remains Berti Pringel, who became several times German senior champion in her age group, as well as European champion, most recently also Ü-80!!!

At that time there was a very successful youth work in the club, which is especially connected with our coach at that time Bernd Ulrich Groß. The first youth played for many years in the highest class, the Verbandsliga and as an outstanding success the German team championship of the boys (approx.) 1988 should be mentioned, which was played in that year for the first time. Before that, the promotion ladder ended here at the West German Champion.

Hans Günther ("H.G.") Hillemacher must not go unmentioned as a good soul of the club, especially with regard to youth work over the years, if not over decades. With his, for us young people unusual game as "Brettchenspieler" - he played with a "Barner", which is hardly known nowadays - he showed many hotspurs the way. It was said that if you could beat H.G., then as a youngster you were fit enough to play in the men's game.

In those years, Günther Reinartz was succeeded as head of the department by Hartwig Trentzsch, who must be mentioned as an outstanding player of the first team and mentor of the club. As a teacher at the Kaiser-Karls-Gymnasium (KKG), he was able to contribute his organizational talent to the department in a special way.

The "top officials" of our Alemannia were joined in the following years by Manfred Mohren, Rainer Souren, Martin Theißen, Markus Brüsseler, who all mastered their task in their own way. After all these men, a well-known lady has been working at the head of the department for a few years now, our Andrea Bothor, who will continue to hold the (yellow-black) flag high for a while.

After there was a slow decline of the club in the 1990s, we played once with only a single men's team in the championship!, one could observe an increasing recovery of the department in this millennium. For about six years now, we have been experiencing a remarkable upswing in the youth division, which was initially kick-started in particular by club mate Oliver Oesterlitz and is still managed by Petar Tesic today. Before the Corona crisis, which led to a real slump in the youth sector, up to four boys' and two girls' teams were playing. In the adult sector, one women's and four men's teams competed most recently. In the last season 2021/22, which unfortunately only included the preliminary round, the first men missed in the final game (second against third) no less than 3 ("small") ball points for them to reach the 2nd place in the Kreisliga and thus have chance to play once again at Bezirksklasse via the relegation games.

This year, with the arrival of many young and ambitious players, as well as committed comrades-in-arms in the club, a further positive development of our Alemannia is becoming apparent. A highly interesting perspective in the near future can be assumed.
